GRASSHOPPER DISPLACEMENT PILLOWS
LOGIC
1. Reference a surface
2. Apply a curve cell pattern on the surface (in this case a diagrid)
3. Use attractor + graph logic to control extrusion tip heights
4. Loft between grid and extrusion tips
5. Join and smooth results
GH Version
0.8.0066
Plug-ins Required
1. Weaver Bird
2. Mesh Analysis and Utility
3. Lunch Box
Tip
Set U and V of mesh surface to 1.You can use polyline component instead
of interpolate curve but the yellow is annoying :). This will work with any
cell based grid system such as triangles, rectangles, voronoi, ect. If so
you will have to find the panel normals on your own. Try using other methods
for tip extrusion such as multiple attractors, random numbers, curve attractors,
images, and any other numerical data types.

I am having trouble creating the final mesh surface. This is what I'm currently looking at: http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/975/pillowsrf1.jpg . Any help would be much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure your image is to zoomed out. Check all your inputs and outputs to make sure you have the correct things flattened / grafted.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I've triple checked and still can't figure our why the planes are fragmented. Here are more readable images: http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/5082/pillowsrfgh.jpg http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/7866/pillowsrfrhino.jpg Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I can think is you didnt set U and V to 1 in mesh surface component. Besides that Im not sure just opened mine and works as expected.
ReplyDeleteok, I tried that and still no luck. Thanks anyway for the help.
ReplyDeleteemail your file to me. mikepryor@hotmail.com. rhino as well.
ReplyDeleteDrew, I believe the problem may be that p input of weave should be set to 0123. Check if you did that.
ReplyDeletethnks so much
ReplyDeleteHi, I have a problem creating the final surface.
ReplyDeleteNo softens.

i have a same problem.
ReplyDeletep input of weave should be set to 0123
ReplyDeletehi michael, yes i do
ReplyDeleteIll give my definition please check. http://www.4shared.com/file/0fgX99zZ/Pillows.html
Hello Michael,
ReplyDeleteThe definition is working, but it seems that there is a problem with calculating the exact area of surface so as a result we have the diamond grid that is exceeding the area of surface. I have tried with some asymmetric shapes and i always get the exceeded grid. What could we do in order to change this?
Thanks in advance,
Lazar
At first I got the same result like Drew. Then I realized, that I used "Extrude" instead of "Extrude Point".
ReplyDeleteNow I get one closed surface, but my pillows look more like pyramids :/
Where cam I set the smoothness of the pillows?
Thanks for all the tutorials!!
Thomas

ReplyDeleteExcuse me. I have a liittle problem for making that triangle pillow. I use same component like you showed but my
ReplyDeletemodel can't be like yours. Mine become may 2D triangles on surface, that's all. Please tell me what can i do to solve this problem. thanks.(I'm sorry, my english is not very well. )
thanks for sharing. It worked.
