GRASSHOPPER DISPLACEMENT PILLOWS


This definition creates a surface of inflated pillow panels

LOGIC
1. Reference a surface
2. Apply a curve cell pattern on the surface (in this case a diagrid)
3. Use attractor + graph logic to control extrusion tip heights
4. Loft between grid and extrusion tips
5. Join and smooth results

2. Mesh Analysis and Utility
3. Lunch Box



Tip
Set U and V of mesh surface to 1.You can use polyline component instead 
of interpolate curve but the yellow is annoying :). This will work with any 
cell based grid system such as triangles, rectangles, voronoi, ect. If so 
you will have to find the panel normals on your own. Try using other methods 
for tip extrusion such as multiple attractors, random numbers, curve attractors, 
images, and any other numerical data types.

  2. I'm not sure your image is to zoomed out. Check all your inputs and outputs to make sure you have the correct things flattened / grafted.

  4. Only thing I can think is you didnt set U and V to 1 in mesh surface component. Besides that Im not sure just opened mine and works as expected.

  7. Drew, I believe the problem may be that p input of weave should be set to 0123. Check if you did that.

  11. Hello Michael,

    The definition is working, but it seems that there is a problem with calculating the exact area of surface so as a result we have the diamond grid that is exceeding the area of surface. I have tried with some asymmetric shapes and i always get the exceeded grid. What could we do in order to change this?

  12. At first I got the same result like Drew. Then I realized, that I used "Extrude" instead of "Extrude Point".
    Now I get one closed surface, but my pillows look more like pyramids :/

    Where cam I set the smoothness of the pillows?

  14. Excuse me. I have a liittle problem for making that triangle pillow. I use same component like you showed but my
    model can't be like yours. Mine become may 2D triangles on surface, that's all.Please tell me what can i do to solve this problem. thanks.(I'm sorry, my english is not very well. )
